The event was created in partnership with the Refugee Empowerment Program, the Orange Mound Arts Council, the Bickford Senior Center and Middle College High School. The group of intergenerational participants worked with the Orpheum Theatre Group to transform stories from their own lives into theatrical performances. ![]() This free, two-day festival features stories from 49 Memphians ranging in age from nine to 94. Stories from Memphians of all ages have been turned into theatrical works for Storyfest at the Halloran Centre April 14-15. – Chris Herrington Storyfest at the Halloran Centre, Friday - Saturday: This new documentary tracks the career of the father of video art, with voice work from actor Steven Yeun. That 2002 piece was commissioned by the museum, giving Memphis a claim on the career of a signature modern artist, who died in 2006. While it’s not currently on view, longtime visitors to the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art might remember South Korean artist Nam June Paik’s “Vide-O-Belisk,” a tower of vintage television cabinets with video and neon lighting elements that spent a good deal of time in the museum’s main rotunda. Bianca Phillips “Nam June Paik: Moon is the Oldest TV” at Crosstown Theater, Thursday: Chef Jimmy Gentry of the Lobbyist and Paradox Catering will create an exclusive tasting menu with specialty cocktails. During the special event, guests will go on a white-gloved tour of MoSH’s never-before-seen archival collection. And that means there are numerous items waiting to be rediscovered. With every MoSH exhibit, some older objects are returned to the archives to make way for the new stuff.
